Mặc dù khả năng cố định đạm, hòa tan phosphate và sản xuất IAA là những cơ chế được nghiên cứu nhiều nhất, việc tìm kiếm các vi khuẩn thúc đẩy tăng trưởng thực vật cũng cần được đánh giá dưới góc độ các cơ chế gián tiếp như sự sản xuất siderophores, HCN và các enyme. Bước sàng lọc các yếu tố thúc đẩy tăng trưởng thực vật in vitro là cực kỳ quan trọng vì nó cho phép lựa chọn các vi sinh vật có tiềm năng nông học tốt hơn trước khi thử nghiệm chúng trên thực vật (Rodrigues et al., 2016).
